THE POWER OF A GREAT QUESTION.
Think about all the great books written on the subject of our thinking and therein lies our answer.
Think and grow rich by Napolean Hill
The power of positive thinking by Norman Vincent Peale
The Magic of thinking big by David Schwartz
As a man Thinketh by James Allen.
If we really think about it, we are born to be problem solving creatures.
If we want to find a better answer, then the challenge is to ask a better question.
The question then is, what is inhibiting us and setting up the road blocks?
According to Oxfam, the $240 billion of income of the top 100 billionaires in 2012
could have been enough to end extreme poverty 4 times over.
(Everyone else’s opinion) our past experiences and subordinate to those who we have positioned in our
minds to be superior or have authority over us.
Watch here to see traditional education’s thought leaders and then the power of questioning.
“The most important thing is to never stop questioning.Curiosity has it’s own purpose
for existing. One cannot help but stand in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of the
universe, of eternity or the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one merely tries
to comprehend a little of this mystery everyday.Never lose a holy curiosity”.(Albert Einstein)
BREAKING THROUGH PREVIOUS LIMITATIONS.
As we break free from the bondage of fixed mind thinking and enslaved by indoctrination, then we are
able to take our place in a world filled with abundance and opportunity. That great yearning within every
one of us to truly make a difference will be met with possibility and become more and more of a reality so long
as the right environment is created.
This environment is one that freely encourages creativity, imagination , collaboration and authenticity.Contrary
to the education system that required rote learning of facts, unquestioning blind obedience and produced a
cooker cutter result so a student can take their place in an industrialized world.
Our environment is the most compelling influence on our thinking.Having the right models to encourage our
independent thinking capabilities are critical.
If we observe the likes of Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, J.K. Rowling and Bill Gates then we will find that their
wealth was acquired by a huge purpose and intense focus that had nothing to do with chasing after the money.
If we are free to chase our passion instead of our pension, then our whole mindset changes. We are free to think
differently. We are free to explore the true power of our own authentic self and then collaborate with more and more
people who can now see and think global and exponential instead of just local and linear.
Watch here to see the difference makers of the past and think how many would have labelled them
as crazy misfits.
FORTUNES FOCUS SHIFTED FROM LOCAL TO GLOBAL ISSUES.
Andrew Carnegie amassed a fortune in the steel industry around the turn of the 19th century and believed that one’s wealth
should be used to better the world. He was a huge advocate for personal autonomy and personal empowerment and
believed in helping others to help themselves.Toward that end, he was a major contributor in the construction of some
2500 libraries across America.
Whilst his “Gospel of Wealth” was not popular in his day, much of his philosophy regarding making the world a better place
has been passed down to the mega techno philanthropists that we have today.
Back in 2015, Mark Zuckerberg announced that he would be donating some 99% of his facebook fortune to philanthropic causes.
Valued at that time at around 45 billion dollars, that would be some kind of contribution. This follows on from the likes of Bill
Gates, Warren Buffet and a number of other billionaires pledging their fortunes to charity.
The greatest problems of the world cannot be solved by governments, who have to face an election every few years and cannot
afford a long term view.Large companies have to be answerable to shareholders who want to see ever increasing profits going
Back in the days of Carnegie, the super wealthy may only have turned their minds to philanthropic causes later in their life.Even then, their focus was basically localized as their knowledge of global problems were not in your face every day like they are today.
Nowadays through the power of the internet, these super wealthy have amassed their fortunes at relatively young ages and are putting their abundant resources to global issues as our global village’s problems become so well known through the power of information sharing.
These young techno philanthropists are called Hyperagents. From his book Philanthrocapitalism:How the rich can save the world,Matthew Bishop states that these hyperagents have the capacity to do some essential things far better than anyone else. They do not face elections every few years, like politicians, or suffer the tyranny of shareholder demands for ever increasing profits, like CEO’s of most public companies.Nor do they have to devote vast amounts of time and resources to raising money, like most heads of NGO’s. That free’s them to think long term,go against conventional wisdom, take up idea’s too risky for government , to deploy substantial resources quickly when the situation demands it – above all, to try something new”.
THE POWER OF INFORMATION SHARING.
Perhaps the greatest value of our technological advancement is in this ability for the global conversation to take place. For more and more people to have a voice, collaborate and share idea’s, break down ignorance which has throughout time kept the masses impoverished by being taken advantage of by the powers that be.
It is not just the super wealthy that are putting their considerable resources to trying to solve the greatest problems in the world today.
The greatest formula for solving the worlds problems is through personal empowerment. When we feel empowered, capable, confident, resourceful, then we have an inherent desire to want to contribute and share from our abundance. It is arguably the most fulfilling of our human needs. It is the driver of innovation and progression.
From his book”Abundance. The future is better than you think”, Peter Diamandis states
“For the first time ever, the rising billion will have the remarkable power to identify, solve and implement their own abundance solutions. And thanks to the net, these solutions aren’t going to stay balkanized in the developing world.
With the convergence of infinite computing, artificial intelligence, ubiquitous broadband coverage and low cost tablets, we can provide a nearly free and personalized education to anyone, anywhere and at anytime. This is an incredible force for abundance.Imagine billions of newly invigorated minds, thrilled by the voyage of discovery, using their newly gained knowledge and skills to improve their lives”.
RESOURCEFULNESS CREATES RESOURCES.
We are no longer reduced ,defined or confined by the state of our natural resources. Our access to resources has always been determined by our resourcefulness, however a growing global access to empowering knowledge brings us to a realization that we can create our own independent, autonomous position if we are willing to go to work on ourselves, elevate our knowledge and skills and share and collaborate with a growing expanding global community.
We all have so much more to offer in this conversation than we think, however it comes back to the way we think.
It was always my intention to create a platform and an environment for this conversation to grow and develop.
The first goal of my program was to help us work on our mindset for abundance and possibility and offer a very
different view than the one being shoved in our face constantly from the media who want to feed our natural
fear driven scarcity default state of mind.
Secondly ,how we can take advantage of market forces and conditions to create our own autonomous, prosperous
Thirdly, how we can leverage our position in the marketplace to go to work on whatever problems we are most
passionate about .Whatever your cause or charity, whether it be local or global, you can make an
impact. You can be a difference maker.
